Future Chef program conclude this week
July 26, 2010
The Nevis division of the St. Kitts & Nevis Hotel and Tourism Association’s Project “Future Chef program” will conclude this week with the junior chefs cooking dinner at two local hotels.
Project Future Chef began in October of 2009 to inspire, motivate, and expose high school students on Nevis to the opportunities available to them within the tourism industry.
The focus is on students enrolled in the Food and Nutrition classes at the Charlestown and Gingerland High Schools.
The students were teamed with chefs at the Nisbet Plantation Beach Club and the Golden Rock Inn, and worked as interns at the major hotels on Nevis during their school vacations.
This week Monday and Wednesday at the Nisbet Plantation Beach Club and the Golden Rock Inn respectively, they will have an opportunity to demonstrate their progress by preparing dinner for twenty-five individuals.
On Monday July 26, 2010, the Charlestown Secondary School will prepare dinner at Nisbet and on Wednesday July 28, 2010 the Gingerland Secondary School will do the same at Golden Rock.
The proceeds from the demonstrations will be used by the HTA to purchase equipment to improve each school’s teaching kitchen.
